“He rubbed a piece of alum on the back of the neck. He finished in silence.”
In Evil Hour - Gabriel García Márquez
Wow. That is just bleak.

“On some stations officers, if they are married, live out.”
The Last Enemy - Richard Hillary.
I don’t even know what to make of that but either way it doesn’t bode well. Unless I become an officer. That’d be cool.

“The Scots are very similar to the Irish in language, custom and character, and are a courageous people, proud when confronting their enemies, who would rather die than be in servitude and say that it is a disgrace to die in one’s bed, whereas it is a great honour to die killing one’s enemies.”
- Barthélemy l’Anglais, Proprietaire des Choses, quoted in Scotland and the Low Countries, 1124-1994.
Prolonged and belligerent. Sounds like how I do it (ladies).

“Lord Merlin, who must have heard, was quite unmoved by this.”  - The Pursuit of Love Nancy Mitford.Well, obviously, Lord Merlin is not getting in the sack with me. Otherwise he would be moved. Ooh-err.

“Biologists are racking their brains trying to think what useful task this apparently surplus DNA is doing.”
Richard Dawkins - The selfish Gene.
Wow, I wasn’t really going to do one of these, but thought I’d check, just to see.
That is bleak. If that isn’t a cutting indictment of what I’m doing with my life right now, I don’t know what is.
seriously, I cannot think of anythine more specific, or anything worse.
I win.
